There are so many toilets in parks that are unisex, women have to walk past the urinals to get to the stalls, I don't see what the problem is.

There are also goes who do the same thing to take naughty photos and videos. If you don't want to be seen as a pervert while crossdressing then go to stores and restaurants that have only one individual toilet that everyone shares. Is my last statement an oxymoron?

Not to mention all the women I do see going into men's bathrooms in really busy station so they don't have to wait in line for the women's. Next time I will report them and see if the woman is arrested.

Considering the number of times I have seen it happen, I question whether you have actually lived in Japan at all, let alone 10 years!

And yes, it would be amusing to see if a woman was arrested when reported for using the guys' restroom. I suppose you could really stir things up and take snapshots of her while she was there. If she complained, you could simply point out that it was 'evidence.' :)

That's so hypocritical. There are toilets for male in many "ladies" in Japan, so little boys go with their Mums.

Anyway, that makes what ? I understand we don't want men on ladies's side of the gym changing room, sento, open showers... but for station toilets, there are doors for each individual seat.

What a coincidence, I was in a train station in Yokohama just two days ago and a woman entered and did her business (not the first time for me). No one complained and she went about her way. I assume someone who had only been in Japan for one day that particular day is one up on you! No pun intended.

Arresting a guy for this? Come on! If he just went in to pee, what's the big deal? If he had been caught peeping in the stalls or something, then I can understand a woman doing something about it. Just because he could be 'recognized as a man immediately' doesn't mean he is some kind of pig. He could just be a poor cross-dresser. I guess the message is: if you wanna get away with this, be sure to apply make-up carefully and shave your legs first!

Popped into the ladies facilities by mistake once, closed the door and sat down. Did not know I was in the wrong place until I heard female voices... I was scared as I had a feeling that if they saw me, the cops would have been called and my name would have been all over JT. LOL

Anyway, I did my business, waited for the voices to leave and dashed out.

I think it is a bit different using a train station toilet that has many stalls and just using one room as they are at Macs. The only "females" I've seen heading into the men's room are the yankis or the "garus" at it has always been during fireworks when the women's line is very long. If they want to take the chance fine. However, there have been many women raped at toilets in train stations here so I think women are a little more concerned when they see some crossdressing guy head to the lady's room than they would be say a same sex toilet in the park - I stay clear away from them as they are disgusting.

If women do commonly use the men's toilet, as many posters have indicated, then why the heck didn't the guy just use the men's room? So he was dressed like a woman; most women dress like women, and that doesn't stop them popping into the men's room.

Still, like others have said, if all he had to do was use the bathroom and then get out then I don't see what the big deal is. Yes it's awkward and I wouldn't care for it if I were in the bathroom at the time, but I don't think he should be arrested over it.

One solution would be to have 3 washrooms instead of just two. One for men, one for ladies and one for all those somewhere in between.

This is so wrong. I have been in train station bathrooms so many times where there is a male janitor cleaning up in the womens bathroom, or have walked into a bathroom to find the urinal with a man peeing in it blocking my way to the womans toilet. I didn't think Japanese people were so squeamish.

This "man" should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This is a totally disgraceful, outrageous atrocity in these modern times.

I'm female and I have gone to the mens room with or without guys around. Girls take too long to use the bathroom especially in J-land. They have to change their outfit to the one they just bought from the store. So stooooopid!

Mark up another one for STUPID. I have seen lots of men in woman's toilets and women use male toilets. It is harder on the men since they just have their back to the women. The women are in stalls. Frack look around Japan and see how many urinals are visible from outside of the toilet room. There is a urinal at a Okinawa bus stop that is out in the open. You can see it from the street. Chalk up another for the J girls, bloody dim whits they give Japanese women hood a bad name. Those J cops make the force look stupid.
