Oscars get 34.3 million viewers, lowest rating since 2008

Yeah, with everyone hootin' and hollering about Hollwood being racist, they slapped the taste of Oscars from everyone's mouth. Can't spoil the mood though. Congrats to Leonard Dicaprio!!

Many years, the Oscars are television’s biggest event after the Super Bowl.

If I recall correctly, Beyonce tried to "ruin" that SB half-time show too. With whole BLM political statement. Just do the performance, why the extreme antics?? (sheesh-)

"If I recall correctly, Beyonce tried to "ruin" that SB half-time show too. With whole BLM political statement. Just do the performance, why the extreme antics?? (sheesh-)" Because she is an entertainer and she is the echo of her time. Get over it. If the system was fair they wouldn't have to cry out loud BLM. In fact, BLM yesterday, today and every day.

Get over it.

All of america was "over" it. But look . . . poof! They just ruined the Oscars with all that hubbub about lack of diversity.

Its pathetic & you know it.

It's like people tuned in to see how Chris Rock would deal with all the controversy in his opening monologue (and consensus is he did it well) and then tuned out when they started announcing the technical awards that followed.

UPDATE: The ratings picture for Sunday’s Oscars looked a little brighter in the updated time zone-adjusted fast nationals from Nielsen, with last night’s show down just 4% in adults 18-49 and up in adults 18-34 and all key male demos.

According to these numbers, the “88th Annual Academy Awards” averaged 34.3 million, down 6% from last year’s 36.6 million in the fast nationals, which rose to 37.3 million in the finals. In adults 18-49, Sunday’s 10.4 rating is off 4% from last year’s fast national rating of 10.8, which was revised up to an 11.0 in the finals.

The Chris Rock-hosted show was up from last year by 1% in adults 18-34 (9.4 vs. 9.3) and across all key male demos: +20% in men 18-34 (8.5 vs. 7.1), +6% in men 18-49 (9.4 vs. 8.9) and 1% in men 25-54 (10.3 vs. 10.2).

For the night, ABC nearly tripled its combined CBS-NBC-Fox competition while nearly quadrupling those networks in adults 18-49.

The peak came when “Titanic” won a boatload of awards in 1998 and 55 million people tuned in.

Because young girls actually watched the Oscars for Leonardo DiCaprio

I guess it have to be very boring.

The Oscars was pretty racist towards Asians with the whole minion joke plus smart slave children doing math for Chris Rock.

And why is everything always a black vs white when it comes to the topic of "Diversity" and "Color"?

To me, the reason why #OscarsSoWhite and #BLM isn't getting as much momentum is because these movements are focused on one minority race rather than others.

If there was more representation for Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, Persians, Arab, etc these civil rights movements would be steam rolling throughout our society.
