Tokyo International Players (TIP) will perform Richard O'Brien's "The Rocky Horror Show," with book, music, and song texts by O’Brien, and directed by Jonah Hagans.
The favorite rock 'n roll musical is turning 40 and will run for six shows over Halloween, featuring well-known and crowd-pleasing tunes such as “The Time Warp” and “Sweet Transvestite.”
Audience participation and costumes are encouraged. Enter a lottery after purchasing your tickets to win a chance to dance on stage as a party guest.
At Theater Sun-mall (Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station on the Marunouchi line), Thursday, Oct 29 and Friday, Oct 30 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct 31 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov 1 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Tickets are ¥4,500 (¥3,800 with Early-Bird Paypal purchase until Oct 1).
Founded in 1896, TIP is a theatrical organisation comprised primarily of the Tokyo foreign community, which provides quality English-language entertainment for international audiences.

The film is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" while the stage play is simply "The Rocky Horror Show."
We actually staged an 'imaginary kabuki' version of this play, calling it the "Onnagata Pinker Show." at the University of Hawai'i back in 1981. It was, to say the least, an imaginative take off on the original.

Popular show worldwide. The movie was fun in its day. not sure I want to go and see it here though.

they should be paying us to watch them. caught one of their shows a fwe years ago and was horrified by the quality of the "actors." but to each his own.

Yeaahhh, the Tokyo International Players... where no audition is needed to join this group, just be foreign. Not impressive to say the least, unless you think the acting in TV commercials is great, then maybe you will like TIP.

On a side note: Once I moved to NZ for a while to this super tiny town called Katikati, had no idea it was the same teeny tiny town where Richard O'Brian was living.

@nakanoguy01 Which TIP show did you see? If it's been a few years since you last saw one of their shows, I highly recommend giving them another chance. I've seen several productions over the last 2-3 seasons and have been duly impressed with the increased quality... you get the feeling they're growing as a company, which can only be good, right?
@Joeintokyo Actually mate, ¥4,500 is pretty reasonable when you consider the cheapest seats for Pippin in English at Hikarie are currently going tor ¥9,000... Lion King in Japanese at Gekidan Shiki is about the same. Where would you recommend seeing better, cheaper live theater with my kids in Tokyo? Hmmm?
