I went a few times and the boat captain I use said they have arrested Chinese crew several times for killing sharks and coral poaching. I liked going to Palau back then because it felt untouched and the sea so serene. I am a little worried about all of that being lost as it opens up to the tourist market.

That's great Japan, now how about you stop whaling in a designated whale sanctuary?

Keeping it's fishing industry local is a good plan, Palau is a gorgeous place so it's nice to see it taking a stance with preservation and conservation of it's beauty.

IWC Article VIII that authorizes Scientific Whaling exempts recognition of Sanctuaries.

Scientific whaling that ends up on a plate........... They are clearly sucking up to Palau to buy favour in the whaling issue, Japan doesn't really give a toss about marine preservation.

It is the whale in the room, so to speak... which the article writer misses.
