I wouldn't be driving over its sister road bridge until it was thoroughly checked.

Ask for a refund from the company that built it.

It failed two years before it durability was up.

As it is nearing its 47th year, why was closer inspections not made ?

Did it fail due to its age, or another cause ?

Let's fix this so we can have a water innage.

I read elsewhere that the bridge was reinforced about 5 years ago to increase its earthquake resistance. Monthly visual inspections are also carried out apparently and no abnormalities had been reported. As the cause has yet to be determined, I guess we can speculate for now. A Chinese submarine, an angry whale, someone digging a tunnel to escape from the local prison, a faulty screwdriver?

All that extra water into the river can't be a bad thing for the fish.

The two pipes collapsed for about 60 meters near the center of the river. The bridge is 546 meters long, with each pipe measuring around 90 centimeters in diameter. The pipe bridge was constructed in 1975 and made durable for 48 years, according to the city. If my math is correct the city miscalculated the life span of the bridge by two years, should have had maintenance checks for old age and defects.
