A Japanese couple stand behind a cow after their wedding ceremony in the Swiss Alpine resort of Grindelwald, a small town below the Eiger North Face. Shop signs bear kanji characters, the train station's main platform is bustling with Japanese tourists, and a chalet is even called Nagano. Japanese are among the most numerous overseas tourists in Switzerland, and their presence has given rise to businesses catering to their tastes -- including weddings.

They had better watch where they step.

Moo!

I wonder if they're eating any beef on their honeymoon.

After reading that three sentence blurb I understand that Japanese-Swiss relations are at an all time-high. Despite Federerer beating one trick show pony Kei Nishikori and giving him tennis elbow. Love all.

something unique about this picture, makes me feel these people are on No Man's Land !

I love the mise-en-scene and composition here. This would make a swell rock album cover.

I will turn the photo of the day into a question of the day. Why the fascination with Switzerland? But I did just ask my wife and she gave me a blank look and she says the Japanese travel all over.... The US, France, Australia etc.... in fact, every flight I am on whether its Hong Kong or Bangkok also is a fully loaded jet with Japanese couples.
marsnairb
do you know why the cow has a bell......because its horns do not work. but it is a nice picture. looks a little cooler there.

What is the white guy wearing? I thought those tuxedo T-shirts went out of style in the 70's.
TheRat
Good one! Needed a laugh for the morning.
From his age, you can easily see that he is from the 70s. Not a critical comment mind you as I am too.
sugamosumo
looks like a good filet and porterhouse awaits the newly weds!

reminds me of the Penn& Tellers show on Showtime: "BULLSH*T"...but this is far more classy.

Daisy is upstaging the bride big time!
ratpack
Holy cow!!!

The old dude in the background makes this the most awesome picture I've ever seen on JT!
And the guy in the far background looks like a hitman about to shoot the cow, which will undoubtedly put a frown on those newlyweds' faces.
cleo
They could at least have given Daisy a nosegay to decorate her horns with.
Congratulations, happy couple. May you never forget the way you feel today.♥

Excellent photo and congratulations to the happy couple. The cow is more attractive than the...

Hilarious! I have never seen any better wedding picture than this one. All the best to the couple.

This wedding was definitely no bull.

Why would anyone want to get married with a stink cow in the picture!!! I don`t know about anyone else here, but I rather have a picture of a tropical beach with a lot of beautiful nature in the back ground rather than a cow like the one in this picture.
Alphaape
I guess they must be the big city types who freak out when they get to view nature without a city scene or convienence store around. I hope that this is just a random shot for fun and gags and that the official pictures will at least have a farmhouse with mountain scenery for the background.
By the way, according to the Global Warming alarmists, aren't the Alpine glaciers melting? I guess that would not make to great of a picture, an alpine mountain without a snow cap.
JA_Cruise
c'mon man, they gave the cow a nice clean-up and a nice hair perm. Cow is looking mighty fine.

Why dress up what will be the wedding dinner. :P Head on a platter with apple in mouth is good enough for me.
But the Alps to make for a scenic wedding, just wish they swiss were friendlier. They are not known for their welcoming spirits and friendliness like the french.
Head across the border to Austria and Bavaria you will get the same scenery and a better reception.
Zenny11
"like the french" should be "same as the french".

Believe me, it could have been much worse. I got married in the Year of the Swine.
marushka
look really very nice, and Grindenwald is one of my favourite place here, in swiss
XXXXX
it doesnt get bizarrer than that! although it isnt, it looks like a collage
MeanRingo
That cow's got funny eyes. I wish it would stop lookin' at me. I'm Brian Fellows.
Seawolf
Typical mountain weather, total white-out like this happens all the time here in Karuizawa...As for the old guy, he must be the cow-handler, white sleeves don't show the animals saliva as much as black! I like the cow's horns, nicely cornered!
marushka
seawolf: guy on the back is dressed in typical swiss outfit for grindenwald, not necessary the cow- handler)
norinrad21
Ahahaha awesome pic
combinibento
JT should post more cowbell.
