who pays for these meetings? first class tickets, 5 star hotels? business diners and expense accounts? NK just wants to be left alone.

Agree. Its an absolute waste of time. If China isn't at the meeting, what's the point?

first class tickets, 5 star hotels? business diners and expense accounts?

Exactly. Let them fly coach and pay for their own meals. The hotels should be motel 6 or red lion or something equally economic.

Puppet show theatre (pun intended) at the tax paying peasants' expense. They want their war, and by golly they (Americans) are going to get it.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

The Americans do not want a war. They just want to get their own way.

This is a meeting of nations who participated under the UN Command.

China sent trips to kill UN troops. Why should they attend?

The meeting is being attended by foreign ministers and senior diplomats of nations that sent troops or humanitarian aid to the U.N. Command that supported South Korea in the fight against the communist North and its allies during the 1950-53 Korean War

Doesn't matter. My point still stands. Talking about what to do about NK is POINTLESS if China is not at the table.

Actually it doesn't. China was invited as was Russia, Both refused to attend.

Actually it doesn't.

Yes it does

China was invited as was Russia, Both refused to attend.

So what? So they refused to attend. So tell me, what is the US going to do? What can Japan do? How are they going to pressure NK without Chinese and Russian support? Go on. Tell me

Western European security sources told Reuters in late December that Russian tankers had supplied fuel to North Korea on at least three occasions in recent months by transferring cargoes at sea

North Korea relies on imported fuel to keep its struggling economy functioning. It also requires oil for its intercontinental ballistic missile and nuclear program.

So as long as Russia supplies NK with fuel and China does not completely comply with sanctions against them, this meeting is useless.

And if you had bothered to read this article properly, which you didn't, you would know that even THIS article says the meeting is useless- albeit more diplomatically-

The gathering, co-hosted by Canada and the U.S., is strongly opposed by China and Russia, which fought on the communist side in the war. It appears primarily symbolic and unlikely to break much new ground.

Lets repeat that one more time for clarification:

It appears primarily symbolic and unlikely to break much new ground****.
