Congratulations Kazuki Nakajima! Amazing!

True, but strange that he is not in that top photograph! He drove superlatively and the victory was just as much his as Buemi and Alonso's. I suspect that Toyota put the two Japanese drivers into their cars for the last stint knowing that they would follow orders and bring the cars home safely.

No telling what the Western drivers might have been tempted to do! ;-)

The #8 car ended up winning the race by 2 laps but it didn't look like it was gonna be that easy at the half way point of the 24-hour race. They were behind more than 2 minutes to their sister car thanks to the penalty by his teammate Buemi but Alonso cut the deficit down to about 40 seconds after his overnight stint. He may be getting old but for my money he's the best race car driver on the planet.

From minus 40 seconds Kazuki Nakajima then cut it down to zero, and eventually he passed Kamui Kobayashi! I would never have believed it, being a Kamui fan, but head-to-head he beat Kamui round Le Mans, (unless there was something wrong with the No.7 car that they are not telling us).

Kobayashi forgot to pit and with the chance of running out of fuel, had to slow down to be able to make it back to the pits, being lapped by Nakajima in the process.

Ah, thanks forza! He had to limp back using battery power alone, right?

My wife says she just saw a Le Mans report on J TV. No mention at all of Alonso in it. Just how incredible were the team and the two drivers Kazuki and Kamui!

Oh yes, hybrid cars. I don’t know about him getting back on battery power. It wasn’t mentioned. They said he had to slow down considerably in order to preserve fuel. I was actually watching the Spanish MotoGP yesterday, to witness the revived fortunes of a certain Italian motorcycle manufacturer and when I flipped channels after that race, LeMans had finished already.

Toyota are the only major manufacturer competing in the top LMP1 class after champions Porsche quit the World Endurance Championship last year, and have only themselves to beat.

What's happening with Le Mans

Porsche and Audi want to concentrate more on Formula E. They have already won at Le Mans, plus this year it was looking even more like Toyota would have beaten them this time.
