Fair decision.

It was odd at the time, and the supportive talk to may have been subconsciously what Kyrgios has needed. But Lahyani was the only person there who was not allowed to do and say what he did.

While I agree that the umpire needed to be sanctioned for the action he took, I believe a one tournament suspension would have been sufficient punishment.

After all, he only uttered one, five-word, phrase which was actually quite ambiguous in its meaning.

Also, Kyrgios, being Kyrgios, would not have paid any attention to what an umpire said to him and, even if he had, there is no suggestion that he accepted the umpire’s offer of ‘help’ (whatever that may have meant).

So, in my view the nature of the punishment was fair, its severity may have been a little harsh.
