Interesting - apparently China's citizenship law is similar to Japan's:

Chinese nationality law does not recognize dual citizenship. The law allows minors of Chinese descent under the age of 18 to apply for Chinese citizenship by having a parent or legal guardian submit their naturalization application on their behalf with the understanding that they will not retain foreign citizenship upon approval. Although a different case, China is known to tolerate, though not acknowledge, dual citizenship for those born as dual citizens until they turn 18, at which point Chinese citizenship lapses if the foreign citizenship is not relinquished.

So by competing as a Chinese athlete, she is in effect renouncing her American citizenship.

Also, watch out for that spying official Chinese Olympics app. The Chinese government is mandating all Olympic athletes, coaches, and attendees use the My2022 app

Citizen Lab researchers, however, demonstrate the app has a “devastating flaw where encryption protecting users’ voice audio and file transfers can be trivially sidestepped.”

Jonathan Scott, a mobile and IoT security researcher specializing in malware, spyware, and forensics, has also done a complete breakdown of the app and is raising alarms: "After reverse engineering all of the #Beijing2022 #spyware app for @Apple #ios and @Google #Android I can definitively say all Olympian audio is being collected, analyzed and saved on Chinese servers using tech from USA blacklisted AI firm"

The App Store listing claims that the app does not collect data, though Scott has shown it does. The app doesn't employ exploits or security holes.

Instead, it actively listens to all audio and sends it off to servers based in China. If the app is moved to the background, it will force itself to the foreground to ensure it has permission to listen in
