Where was the pressure from the LGBT community on Chicken-Fil-A to change and hire a diversity director and drop the name of their sandwich?

Ensuring the correct proportion of job applications from straight white males goes in the trash?

I share your pain. We are so historically put upon. I can't think of anything in the last 500 years that has been allowed to come from single, white males. We have been airbrushed from history. Where is our Rosa Parks ?

I would have expected way more comments here to be in support of the American right and against woke ideology.

For some reason people here are oddly liberal on US issues and yet staunchly conservative on Japanese issues.

vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion

SMH. That's not even a made-up title. How does he fill his day? Ensuring the correct proportion of job applications from straight white males goes in the trash?

And how come the liberal media labels everyone right of centre as 'Right wing' and anyone left of centre as 'Progressive'? That's not even a made-up label, either.

Here is the question.

If I have a retail business and during pride month an activist from the LGBTQIA+++ 2LGBTQIA+++ ( honestly lost track of what to use now) walk in and ask to display pride pamphlets, flags, etc...am I permitted to say "no I am not interested" in the same way I say to other organizations?

The answer is NO!

If I dare say no then it is near 100% guaranteed that they will leave them mount an online attack on my business saying it is Anti LGBTQIA or doesn't support pride, etc...

This is not a guess it is the tactic that has and is being used by this group and it's supporters.

It doesn't matter if I said "No" to all the other groups that asked me to do similar promotions, they are special and we all must bow down to their demands.

As I pointed out a town has flown 3 flags only for 100 plus year the national flag, provincial/state flag and the town flag.

They said no to flying the pride flag based on this simple principle.

Big mistake national news "the Town is anti LGBTQIA++" for refusing to fly the flag.

Again no other flags are flown but official government flags.

it wasn't that long along when you posted you had "thousands of GAY friends" and you went to GAY bars/clubs. What changed?

Yesterday, in Israel was GAY Parade Day. Israel's far-right Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has been jeered by marchers at Jerusalem Gay Pride.

No word on if they eat woke-chicken.

Jesus condemns the sin, not the sinners, but calls ALL to repentance.

> And neither homosexuality nor bring transgender is a sin

Heck I'm an atheist and I know that isn't true.

In the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions, they are 100% forbidden and the penalty was not a Stern talking to.

https://biblehub.com/leviticus/20-13.htm.

Took about 3 seconds on google.

And this is only one example.

If you are going to make and argument or point at least check your facts before.

And neither homosexuality nor bring transgender is a sin

Incorrect.

1 Corinthians 6:9–11;

1 Timothy 1:8–11

Romans 1:26–27

Bronze age fairytales from groups that protect pedophiles are not convincing evidence.

Chickens, as non-human animals, do not have a gender identity in the same way that humans do. They have biological sex, which determines their reproductive capabilities, but they do not possess a sense of gender or the ability to identify as a different gender.

And neither homosexuality nor bring transgender is a sin, a crime or a recognized psychological illness.

So there's that.

They don't need your forgiveness any more than I need it for being left-handed.

Cleo, thank you for taking some quotes from the Bible, although quite out of context.

Let's just examine one quote, "Love thy neighbor as yourself." That's a great quote from the Sermon on the Mount (The Beatitudes) from Matthew Ch 5. Bear in mind that in all of Jesus's preaching, he said, "REPENT, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." All of His teachings are based on the preface of repentance from sin.

In John Ch8, a woman caught in adultery(probably prostitution) is brought to Jesus by the Pharisees (to test Jesus) but rather than condemn her, he said" Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. "

Of course none could do that (because ony He was without sin), and they all went away. When no one was there to condemn her, Jesus said," Neither do I condemn you ; go, and sin NO MORE. "

Jesus condemns the sin, not the sinners, but calls ALL to repentance.

Boycott Bud kite because it is an abomination to the term "beer."

"American fast-food restaurant chain Chick fil A started receiving some backlash online on May 30, 2023, for hiring a Vice President under their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program. Netizens debated that the DEI program, which would supposedly advocate for trans and queer people, would directly clash with the restaurant’s values."

America, you are insane.

Only the goobers amongst us, which I will grant, is a sizable minority.

I never go to Chick because the line is too damn long. Like Krispy creme, nothing is THAT good.

But maybe in July when I'm home, and the goobers are in a huff, ill try it again.

Dropping the name "Lord's Chicken" was solely a business decision by Chick-fil-A and no one forced them. Probably didn't want to use the Lord's name in vain anymore.

When this company donated money to anti-gay groups, they were going too far. The company is entitled to its opinion, but shouldn't try to push their opinion on others. When this company tried to make sure that they were hiring people from throughout the culture, they were just doing what is decent and fair. That is my opinion.

Yes they are and that is how all this and the rest got started.

The rainbow flag group demanded why no pride month acknowledgement, stickers or flags.

Reply was no, so they went ballistic "boycott" harrass yxz business until the rainbow flag flies.

Be honest!

A Catholic school board doesn't put the flag, it also doesn't say anything bad or disrespectful.

If you, and others here really cared about children when you throw around complaints about impact on schools, you’d start by condemning the Catholic Church in the very example you cite. The Church, which still protects, hides and refuses to address the innumerable horrendous abusers of children in its ranks from top to bottom, and obviously this is not limited to the Catholics, are the real danger to kids.. Yet, the Christian Right rises on its bully pulpit to condemn rainbows and blather on about how a month of rainbows is an attack on moral society. As mentioned by others, no one is making companies do anything. The truth is that the lgbt community wanting to live and love who they want and daring to celebrate it triggers people like you and the right wingers in here.. As the right often says, being offended is not an argument.

Many social media users now say they've totally given up the brand, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate, has vowed to never drink Bud Light again,

Bud Light is damaged beyond repair.

0 ( +12 / -12 )

But the tables have turned, as right-wing influencers complain on social media about a statement from its vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion who says the company is committed "to ensuring mutual respect, understanding and dignity everywhere we do business."

Though that position has already been filled for a few years, angry social media commentators seem to have only just noticed this week.

There are more than enough residents of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico for whom a chicken sandwich from a fast food restaurant is a luxury. A bit of gratitude from those of us who can afford it stirred with a dash of sharing -- start with that.

If I don't put any for or against and you do what you want on your place and I on mine, that is mutual respect.

But what you want is for people businesses to put your flag because your tell them to.

Again if I don't put your flag and I don't say anything, then respect that.

But no rainbow group cannot let me

A Catholic school board doesn't put the flag, it also doesn't say anything bad or disrespectful.

NO! The rainbow flag must fly or else we will cause your school trouble.

The slogan "Go woke, go broke" has circulated on social media to encourage such boycotts

Morons were parroting this as a law of business but even they shy away from doing it now as too many things they regard as woke were not going broke.

As stated here, best just use it as a way to discourage people from using services which make them upset.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Instead of the "House of the Lord," it's now the "House of the Chicken Burger".

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Trump said Thursday that he doesn’t like the term “woke,” claiming that most people “can’t even define it.”

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Lets be honest here!

99% of these situations start one way.

It usually starts in with June if a business, a city, town etc...is seen not flying the rainbow flag or having a pride month acknowledgement, like sticker posters or event, they will be confronted for not doing so.

And now we have a fight and that is when everything starts.

In North America cities and towns that have since the start flown only the national, provincial/state and city flags are now being told fly the pride flag.

Refusal will result in attacks.

No other group demands this sort of thing, if a business doesn't put Merry Christmas, happy St Patrick's Day, Irish flag the Chinese flag or Chinese new year etc... signs or flags no one says a thing.

So the question is who started it all?

You are right. One side started to push for human rights, mutual respect and dignity.

A response to defend ultra conservative homophobic ideas is the proper thing to do, isn't it?

It's terrifying how easily people can be propagandised into believing the most ludicrous nonsense, and how easily they can be distracted from the real problems facing them.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." William J. Casey, CIA Director, 1981

Follow the money to understand what is truly going on. Private equity investment monoliths like Blackrock and Vanguard are pressuring big corporates to promote PRIDE, DEI and ESG initiatives or risk divestment. Buckling under the pressure results on irate consumer bases, billions in lost revenue and stock price plunges.

Shove wokeness into your conservative customer base's faces and this is what happens.

Big Don is a Mac, not a chicken.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Let's be honest here.

The decision by Chick-fil-A to drop the "Lord" name of their chicken burger has nothing to do with the rainbow boys and girls.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

"to ensuring mutual respect, understanding and dignity everywhere we do business."

This all seems quite consistent with the preachings of Jesus. Why do Christian groups have a problem with this?

It is ironic that humanists (and many Christians) are closer to the messages of the Bible than the evangelical cult.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Crazy people. God's burger choppers. The religious right-wingers. Calling a burger "Lord" would be blasphemy. Using "His" name in vain.

"He that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, dying let him die." Leviticus 24: 15-16.

When a burger becomes more important than god himself.

Turn the other cheek.

May rainbows brighten their consciousness.

Chick-fil-A currently has 2,600 locations across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The Rainbow boys and girls should pop along to their nearest branch in numbers and colors.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

Private equity investors, like BlackRock, the worlds largest fund with $10 trillion (Trillion) under management, are behind much of this.

Forcing businesses into this based on the nonsense by some young MBA weeny who’s never run a lemonade stand.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

If he were alive today, Jesus would reviled by 'Christians' for his wokeness.

Love thy neighbour? (Matthew 22:38) Aye, but only if we can pick and choose the neighbour.

Feel compassion and heal the sick? (Matthew 14:14, elsewhere) - d@mn social medicine!

Suffer the children to come unto me, and forbid them not (Mark 10:14) But if their parents have the wrong colour passport, lock 'em up in cages!

My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.(Matthew 21:18) Free enterprise! Preachers gotta make a (good) living, too.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (Matthew 19:24) That:s why we bancrupt folk with medical bils when they're at death's door, for their own good? (See above, social medicine, it's not good for you)

So the question is who started it all?

whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also (Matthew 5:39) But, but, they started it!

Why does a burger joint, or any other organisation have to have an opinion about what other people do in private? Most people don't care and don't need cynical virtue signalling shoved down their throats

It shouldn't but here is what certain groups do.

If you refuse to put the flag up they will attack you both physically and social media.

Now guess what flag? Well seeing I mean world wide I don't mean the USA flag.

So it is usually a reaction to a demand by the colourful flag group that ends up starting things off.

With the 2024 election campaign looming, the culture wars don't seem poised to run out of steam any time soon, and their next targets may be just as unpredictable as their last.

More corporate funded campaigns to get certain groups riled up about the proper deference to the dictates of their Bronze Age sky god, gender classifications, sexual preferences and historical revision.

You would think we should be beyond such things with other such pressing issues as global realignment and tech advances.

And contributor to conservative organization Turning Point USA, Morgonn McMichael, accused the chain in a viral video of deciding to "bow down to the woke lords."

But corporate funded groups like this want to make sure the hot button issues in American "democracy" never touch on corporate welfare, the looting of the commons, the tax base shifting away from corporations and billionaires to the middle class and shocking income inequality in the biggest economy in the world.
