I’m down 7kgs since December by simply changing my diet.

Fasting till noon and not eating too many carbs helps me a lot.

I'll take a bit o' rice, please. I don't eat enough rice to hurt. But I want some occasionally. Best rice I ever had was in Toyama Ken.

To me, Yoshinoya is about beef on top of filling Japanese rice. 1 coin. Oishii! Beef on vegetable? No, that's just not Yoshinoya. I think this Rizap fad will fail!

No thanks for the fatty meat that is

I wondered whether to say this too, ¥500 for a set breakfast, can't be that nutritious, and having tried it, I agree with you.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but it's a different food scene in Japan now, so much proliferation of minimum price outlets vs quality outlets, and you'd have to go to Hokkaido to get affordable quality food.

No thanks for the fatty meat that is not fit for dog consumption in some other countries.

"Eating more rice could help fight obesity, study led by Japan researcher suggests" from The Japan Times

So which is it?

Maybe Sukiya will follow suit and add something like this to their menu if Yoshinoya shows it's successful?

Sukiya has has something like that for quite some time. I think it's salad and tofu instead of rice

So... rice is no good for you?

The two women wanted the rice.

A group of five of us from work went and the three guys all wanted to order this. But they don’t offer it until after 13.30. Weird.

It's a low carb life for me!

I'm a Sukiya fan, but I'll definitely pop in to Yoshinoya to give this a try. That's a pretty good price point, too.

I was thinking the same thing!!!

therougou, it certainly looks like it is sitting on a bed of cabbage... Would have been better on cauliflower rice!

DEFINITELY a good idea, I have been cutting down on rice consumption with GREAT results, so much so the Mrs has asked me to stop losing weight.

Will definitely try this & hopefully other places do similar!

I too prefer matsuya but I'll give this a try as long as it isn't 99 percent cabbage

Finally! It is a doom here for food: you can never chose what you want/need since everything come in a fixed set that buries you in rice and fried crap or rice and row stuff and little else (no fruits at all). If you are on a low or no carb carb habit, you can only hit your head on the wall, if you do not bring your own meal with you. Lately I started seeing some more protein beverages or allegedly 'protein' based products (mainly made with chicken meat). But it is still a timid approach: 'protein' and vegetable based meals seems to be seen as health otaku or health troubled individuals.

I do not do Yoshinoya- I prefer Matsuya much more

Good news! I have been very low carb since 2000, testing various foods on my body and always being aware how they affect me. For me, no high carb foods (rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, pizza crust, corn, pumpkin, milk, fruit juice, beer) works excellent for me. Ordering “teishoku” without rice has always been possible here (less strange looks now than before), but to have a donburi without the rice is something I look forward to! It has been about 20 years since I last ate a donburi.

For once, a Rizap product i am looking forward to! Their pathetic "5000mg protein drink" (less protein than any small soy milk container), expensive, low protein snacks, and of course the overpriced diet plans...
