Opel, Ford...

They didn't pull out because this market is "not worth the problem", they pulled out because their vehicles simply don't sell, much like Chrysler.

Last year they sold around 6,700 and 9,400 units, respectively, making them top 10-selling foreign branded vehicles in the Japanese market.

Wow, 6k and 9k gets ya in the Top 10

That means there's a big dropoff between the high Top 10 and the low Top 10

That lopsided means there's really only so few foreign car brands sell

There are Chryslers in Japan?? I honestly can't remember ever seeing one!

Anytime you see a Jeep. And I see a lot of them.

Many of the major companies are seeing it as not worth the problem.

For example?

I've occasionally seen Jeeps, but I'm talking about the Chrysler brand.

Worked for DCJ and before that Chrysler Japan back in the 90s. All foreign cars, but mostly the US brands, can't provide a high enough level of quality for the prices asked. The German brands get away with their pricing because of build quality but are still too costly for the mainstream.

Carrefour pulled out.

You want more examples.?

One cannot live on past glory forever.

6K in one year, that figure will be reached in less than a month in China.

295,000 foreign cars for the whole year, I hear the argument that American

cars don't sell because they are big, gas guzzlers and poor quality, does it

mean the rest of the world is also low quality that is why Japanese are shunning

foreign cars ?

With the shrinking and ageing of the japanese population, regulations etc

Japan is becoming less important as a market.

Many of the major companies are seeing it as not worth the problem.
