Does anyone really expect the internal Japanese economy to get to the level that the Bank of Japan or the Government expects - once that sales tax increase the Prime Minister still wants to push through, the figures are gonna be worse.

Household spending is falling because Japanese are getting older and the young are not getting married.

They're not spending because more and more of their employers have adopted shareholder capitalism, by which wages are suppressed at rates well below the growth of the companies' profits -- which happen to be at historical highs. This isn't normal, and that so many affected people accept it, boggles the mind.
It didn't used to like this. Remember the days of a growing middle class and financially stable single income households? Sayonara the rich have pocketed the surpluses that made happen.

THe folks who came up with these so-called "expectations" have their heads in the sand! It has been literally years and years since people here have felt any type of confidence in the economy and their own economic prospects.

Why unexpected ?
Christmas coming, Forthcoming tax rises coming, increased age of retirement, job insecurity coming due to the pending influx of foreigners. Take your pick.
