One thought continues to bother me... what companies and in which industries are actually fueling the orders stated? What are core machinery..?
That can make all the difference in what happens in the recovery phase...
Nice statistical numbers may not be centered around those that can really affect and effect the recovery. It may be just a ghost reflection of the increase in medical machinery products needed for the hospitals facing the COVID-19. It may not be for the infrastructure or items that could actually rebuild and fuel the recovery. We know it cannot be for automobiles which contribute to much of the GDP. It also depends on exportable items or for domestic use. If it was for automation, then it can have a negative impact on employment.
It is good that there is thaty increase in orders for machinery... but for what?, does make a difference.

Great news...!
It is the time to invest in infrastructure and in training staff for better and much more efficient facilities, equipment and supply chain. There has been no pandemics which man has come out of and was no need for a strong recovery. That takes "preparation" and not "despair". Glad that some companies had some reserves to do just that.
That will keep at least some part of the economy moving till recovery begins.
