So the government is claiming cash it didn't get as tax. I suppose that's fair.

Whenever I gamble on the stock market and lose, I always sue as well. Because I'm a very reasonable person.

GGood luck with that. Can I sue the pension fund because they invested in Toshiba and lost my money?

The government sues the auditors but not the guys responsible for fiddling the figures. It's a bit like sueing voters for electing crooked politicians.

@Scrote, If they did maybe the voters would take greater care who they voted in to power! (also true for most democracies, even more true for non democracies but the poor slobs don't even get a choice!).

I would guess the pension trustees have a prudential duty to act to preserve the pension funds. Sueing the actual individuals responsible for the debacle would be more just but seems to be a problem generally; also always sue the person who can pay!

I don't know who is responsible for what happened at Toshiba, whether it was management or the accountants/auditors, but it involved fraud for which someone is responsible.

If this helps people take responsibility for their actions rather than pretend and lie and then say "we thought it was for the good of the company. shouganai." I'm all for it.

The auditors clearly didnt do their jobs. And I'm going to guess they got paid huge amounts of money for producing misleading, inaccurate reports. So sue 'em.

The fund holds our pension contributions, so I'm all for it.
