That's good. But, Japanese government should ensure the minimum salary range is enough to live on.

Who cares. Plenty of jobs lying around due to the shortages of workers. The farm and service sector need plenty of people anyway.

Actual jobs? Jobs that pay a living wage? These facts are important. Having the whole population employed parttime at the quick e mart is not good for anyone

In Japan, after you're unemployed for a certain period of time - you stop receiving welfare payments, and you stop being counted as being unemployed.

Weird that there are so many people who are living in poverty or one paycheck away from it, with such a low unemployment rate. You'd think the population would be living well with almost everybody working.

It's almost as if wages haven't kept up with the cost of living. Or that employers, in addition to suppressing wages, are also keeping the hours worked low or classifying the employees as contractors, as to avoid providing the benefits of full-time employment.

2.5 percent unemployment rate is extremely low if it gets lower then as the report says it will be very difficult for the employers to find employees in capitalism. 132 job openings for every 100 job seekers is a good ratio, Japan economy is strong to create more jobs than its population can do, it show economical strength and even more growth from previous month labor report. At this ratio like the report says, workers at harsh working conditions like restaurants have a chance to find better jobs of higher paying and better working conditions, if their employees leave them, the restaurant industry will be even more short staff, and there is a lot of restaurants too in Japan and believe they can handle it. It is good that covid virus is over and things are getting back to old classical Japan normal.

Not when you understand how Japan calculates the unemployment rate. If you work part time 5 hours a week or even less at a convenience store or do seasonal part time work at Costco, you are counted as employed- NO DIFFERENT from a full time Sei Shine at a corporation. That's how the gov keeps everything hush hush. 40% or MORE of the workforce is not full time, which means they have no job security, no access to public health care (they BY LAW have to pay for it by themselves Kokumin Hoken), no livable wage, no bonus, no paid holidays, etc. Almost HALF of the workforce is in this predicament. Yet the gov says we have super low unemployment. Its BS.

IF the J gov counted the unemployment rate the SAME WAY the west does, it would be close to half. And this is not hyperbole.

which is why the jobless rate is at 2.5%. They are counting the baitos and even people doing volunteer work. Otherwise the jobless rate would be WAY higher

By the way, I personally believe that this is one of the CORE reasons why the COVID numbers here are so low- both for infection and death rates. Because when you have 40% of the workforce with no Shakai Hoken- going to the doctor for ANYTHING becomes VERY expensive, AND when 40% have NO paid holidays and are living month to month, do you really think they are going to get tested when they think they are sick?
