Kirin is turning a blind eye to what is well known by all.

With a military government that has abused even its own people for decades, there is no excuse to support a dictatorial regime...

Japan keeps saying pro-democratic things about Hong Kong but they still cooperate with China and Vietnam to oppress more people. Additionally, Shinzo Abe and Suga have emulated the Communists to implement many authoritarian laws in Japan. I never ever see a Japanese web brigade until Shinzo Abe came into power, and these trolls are exactly like Wumaos but pro-Imperial Japan.

I would not bet any Japanese firm or Japanese government to ever take on any authoritarian regime.

So, once again completely wasted money on a “ consulting firm” Deloitte, having the guts to take huge fees and do nothing but fill paper.

And Human rights will be far down on priority lists to decide anything at Kirin.

What did the moaning Ceo and Kirin do themselves to assist restaurants and bars in Japan except complaining about lack of support by government

If they can’t do the job, they should not take it not the clients money. It is called professional integrity

Nothing beats the all-mighty yen.

Perhaps Kirin's parent can sell weapons to MEHL's parent.

It appears that over 120 Japanese firms have invested approximately $2 billion into Myanmar through mid 2020. I would imagine many of them had co-invested or had to work with a local partner affiliated with the military. Not sure why the focus is on Kirin now? I know many of the 6 Japanese trading firms have made large bets there.

That isn't how it works in situations like this. In all likelihood no company would take the job unless Kirin guaranteed payment. In any event MEHLs refusal to cooperate is not a reflection on Deloitte's work. Neither Deloitte nor apparently Kirin have the authority to compel MEHL to provide the documentation sought.

Exactly. The other poster does not seem to understand how business works. Sometimes there is no guarantee a result can be produced, but it's still worth a cost to the company to see if it is possible or not. These kind of things are negotiated after the fact - what the base cost will be, whether payment is based on hourly costs, outcomes, or what. The business word is most definitely not a one-size-fits-all where either a result is guaranteed, or no payment is made. If it were that way, the world would not function very well.

They were stonewalled by the Burmese. What do you want Deloitte to do? They don't work for free.
