However, in Japan it is the managers who give staff depression.

I completely disagree with this. Depressing corporate work environments, inflexible work styles and long commutes directly cause my 9-5 depression.

That doesn't undermine the proposition that some 'people bring their problems from life into the workplace, etc...'
