Why don't McDonalds source their potatos from Japan then?

Word. This isn't the first time this potato armageddon has happened to Macs. I don't see why they don't get their potato on from more than one place. Get 25-40% locally from Hokkaido just in case. They're just potatoes not rare earth metals or anything.

Where were you when the potato wars started?

Man, it was hell.

Supply lines were blocked. We were dug in behind the fryers running low on fries and hash browns...lobbing them into the oil one at a time. That traitorous b*stard Hamburglar and Burger King had us pinned down from behind the golden arches, and Grimace was barking orders down the line to crank out value meals no matter what and charge the customers full price. The air was thick with the stench of special sauce and screams of kids flinging live pickles onto the windows.

When the chips are down, go local. Go MOS.

There are so many better options out there why would anyone still go to McDonalds?*

By the way, below standard sanitation-wise as well.

*except salarymen sleeping there overnight of course

Japan is littered with the dead carcasses of companies trying to introduce Mexican food.

True. There a few good ones (Mexican restaurants and cafes), but I would guess only those who've been to Mexico and the Southwest US and are experienced with Mexican foods there would make it. I've been to both good and bad Mexican restaurants in Japan.

McDonalds food is ruining the health of the Japanese people i strongly suggest to stay away from it.

Surprised they don't use Hokkaido spuds, but I guess all their equipment is designed for Russets

Those few times a year that I go to McDonalds I am ordering chicken nuggets instead of fries in the set. IMHO much better deal than fries.

Didn't even know you can do that. Then again, I rarely order a set. Don't need that watered down drink.

why is this "newsworthy"?

Time to start making tortilla chips and salsa. I can go for that now.

So sad? ….where do they find these people?"

That's the average Japanese for you.

Sounds like your average battler anywhere. Not limited to Japan by any means.
