Very nice, but not as good as 38000+ in 1989.

there's a lot of positive economic data about Japan these days.

Yeah, lots of positive news, but businesses can't hire people because they are not willing to raise wages. This is not good for the long term health of the economy, especially since the consumption tax is going to be raised when Abe takes over again.

There's an election coming. The corporate media is taking no chances, as usual.

LDP and Abe is great ! gonna vote to Abe !

Abenomics is working. Keep the punchbowl overflowing!!

Another trap to lure retirees out of their pensions. Wait until the bottom falls out, like it always does. The stock market is nothing more than a giant Ponzi scheme.

"Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg and howlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble. Cool it with a baboon's blood, Then the charm is firm and good."
Welcome to Japan Inc.

Lol how is it that this happens before the 'election' ? And how can anyone falls for this obvious ploy?
Oh....

How much of the stock market does the BOJ own now?
I hope that Abenomics working is the reason for this but I suspect it is going to come a crashing down again. I prefer to risk my money on crypto currencies than Japanese stocks, unless Abe does ever get around to his promised structural reforms.

Does not benefit ordinary people one iota.
socrateos
Exactly. Abe can brag about it but consumers are reaping no benefit because of that. There must be a way to kick Japan Inc. to spend for investments or wage-hike.
koiwaicoffee
This. Those profits stay in the hands of the already rich.
sourpuss
You're saying ordinary people don't invest? That's a rather broad and baseless assumption. I guess it's a fashionable thing to say though.
