Many Chinese people come here to hunt for a great number of diapers here and go home to sell them for higher prices. Japanese here can't buy enough diapers for their babies sometimes. Diaper is diaper, buy there.

Making money out of a crappy situation!

Everyone knows that China is one of the lowest quality "labels" on the planet.

So, more people will start selling counterfeit Merries diapers at their store in China.

4 yuan a diaper, that is extremely expensive.

Could we have details on how they use it that would explain the situation ?

In my country, one drop and you through away so you gotta be rich with the price above.

Not lately, but often in recent years, I have seen groups of Chinese parading through the station with a case of Merries diapers in each hand. Never any children in the group. And on one occasion, a mountain of Merries stacked outside the DonQuixote store being loaded by Chinese into a van.

I just get the feeling the Japan-made ones are better, to be honest

They are.

They have children. The children need diapers. They have money. They want their children to have the best diapers. People buy the best diapers and bring them to China where the people who want the best diapers buy them.

Douglas Whitman,

My iPhone was made in China and so were all the other Apple devices I have owned.

They have all been outstanding.......far outlasting the local junk I had to make do with in Japan regarding smartphones.

By a company owned and operated in Taiwan with a very strict contract about QC with Apple an American company. Show me a low quality Japanese smartphone in the same price range as Apple.

Mainland tourists stock up on nappies all over.  Seen them buying UK and US brands in HK (I seem to remember that there was even a limit placed on how many they could buy) and Singapore also.  sight of a family with huge tied up bundles of nap[pies is a giggle.

@Spitfire

The ONLY reason Apple stuff exceeds the local trash in China is because Apple has ultra-stringent processes in place to ensure high quality. Any typical local companies in China make nothing but trash. They'll cut corners at every chance possible. Use inferior ingredients and try to cover it up. Go look at how long the average new apartment building lasts there before it starts to fall apart - 1 year or less. It a country that exists by stealing from other people/countries hard work and ideas.
