I was always hoping Softbank's connection to Sprint would help improve the quality of Sprint when I travel home, but so far it is just as terrible as it always has been. The appeal of just being able to turn on my phone when getting off the phone and immediately connecting to Sprint seems just to be a pipe dream. Great coverage in Spokane, terrible in Portland and anywhere in the countryside. Always tries to connect to AT&T. If the merger is approved, will the service get better or worse? BTW, I don't have any troubles in Tokyo with Softbank.

Good. As a former customer of Softbank and now Ymobile, I would not want my worst enemies to be to subject to the appalling, soul-destroying customer services his companies inflict on the public.
I'm now overseas and the handset they gave me recently is locked, even after the Japanese govt told them they can't lock handsets. The money I spent on my local sim was wasted, thanks Son's mafia.

Technology developed in the US of A but innovated to a higher standard in Japan and Europe :)

I've liked SoftBank in Japan, and have been on au also, liked them. I've been on every company in USA, but only T-Mobile has great international service. Free data, albeit a bit slow, and $.20 a call. No other USA company has that advantage. And Sprint is CDMA whereas T-Mobile is GSM. America is BIG so cell coverage is hard.
