oh dear, seems like one person is panicking. Cars are machines and machines, like everything else, are not perfect. Relax

"...a major setback for the Japanese automaker's ambitions....."
Every automaker has to go through the process of issuing recalls for potentially hazardous vehicles. It would have been a much worse setback if the recall were done only after problems arose while the vehicles were being driven.

Japanese and American 'used' to do lug nuts (where the stud is on the hub), whereas the Euros do wheel bolt/lug bolt (where the hub is threaded to receive a bolt). Bolts are cheaper, easily replaceable when stretched, and no risk of thread damage from the wheel rubbing against the stud. I don't think anyone do lug nuts any more.

Strange twisted headline making a big deal out of very little. No specific wheel, just a possibility of wheel nuts working loose.

Nothing that Toyota can't handle.
Akio Toyoda isn't as dumb as some posters think.

"Wheel bolts"? I think we used to call them lug nuts in my day.
This is a big deal for Toyota, given the importance of this model in the carmaker's EV push.

Seems like more than one to me. Toyota, Subaru and the regulator, not to mention the test driver, the journo etc...it's a big deal reputation wise, panick is not an appropriate word for this situation either, more like 'doh' bolts can't handle load (weight) of the car.

Only 112 for Toyotas supposed home market Japan? They really try hard to sell their image of "Green technology" hybrids here without agnowledging how far they have fallen behind on the global market!

What is the policy about recalls of Toyota vehicles that seem to be used by every insurgency/terrorism group around the world?
Sh1mon M4sada
Oh dear, Toyota's reputation for building cars with higher reliability margins is trashed here. All the good rap for beefing up bolts in the BMW's engine in the Supra and how Toyota stressed tested every shared BMW parts seems to not have happened here, on Toyota's own design!. Or did Toyota leave responsibility for wheel bolts to Subaru and its parts bin guy?
Either way, no doubt the marketing department probably has a lot to answer for for rushing out a car that's not ready for prime time.

BYD rebadges. Toyota and Honda are going to rebadge Chinese EVs and put their brands on those cars to market as Japanese. Many shady Japanese big corporations have been doing this for years to lie towards consumers and manipulate their financial statements.
