That will be the effect, whether by choice or by requirement.
I wonder how much of a price rise people will accept before they start jumping from the trump ship.

Both. I remember when Walmart carried American brands. Usually, they were more expensive, but they are our neighbors.
I have little love for Apple. Chances are that any added tax on those things won't matter to the people I know using them. And in a few years, Apple will have all US-based manufacturing anyways.

This trade war is going to get much more brutal. Xi and Trump are playing a game of chicken. Each wants to up the other's ante.
However, having said that, I do hope that this trade war discourages more companies from opening shop in China. China needs to be contained.
