I'm a bit lost American exports of meat are surging, but other news articles are saying that Americans are running out of beef due to plant shut downs, then another article says there's an investigation into the meat processing companies because farmers are saying these companies are talking up the effects of lockdown to drive down farmgate prices for animals while charging top dollar for the processed product.

Anyone know whats fact or fiction???

It's not about the meat quality but rather the quantity...but I think watch the salt even with small portions of food.

Dry aged US beef is great and has just the might amount of marbling. But of the beef at chain restaurants or in frozen foods is from the US or Australia so yes we need it.

I never said, they didn’t. I said, you don’t have to buy it. You have plenty of options to buy organically grown grass fed beef. So I never worry about those kinds of things. It’s like smoking, we have cigarettes, but it means nothing to me as I’m not a smoker. In the US we still have choices.

Not to mention, all the options that you claim are available are a lot more expensive and are not purchased by the average US consumer.

Most people I know do buy organically local produced meat, even the people around us that don’t have a lot of money.

Being from California, a lot of people care where their meat comes from and remember, not everything in Japan is healthy, depends on what you eat. You think soy sauce is healthy? The Japanese have a serious salt fixation problem.

JBS declined to respond to questions about its foreign ownership. Purdue University agricultural economist Jayson Lusk said it’s not clear what role the foreign owners play in deciding how much meat is exported.

Sad and not surprising. China government backed firms have been buying companies around the world including in the US for years. Food security is only one threat to US sovereignty. In developing countries they offer loans that will be almost impossible for that country to payback in exchange for hunting, mining and fishing rights!

Also, Saudi Arabia own farms in Arizona that located on top of one of the largest aquifers in the US draining most of the water in the Southwest along with other greedy farmers.
