After Amazon: Labor tries to regroup in wake of Alabama loss

Amazon is not an example of the Free Market System but is an example of the Greedy Capitalism that is destroying the United States. Jeff Bezos does not like the Free Market, he doesn't want competition and has destroyed thousands of small businesses. Bezos spent millions of dollars fighting the union when he should have been spending that money on improving the working conditions of his overworked and underpaid workers. Amazon is an Evil Empire and Jeff Bezos is an Evil Person who has no soul or conscious.

If capitalism is so bad, and yes, it has flaws like everything else in life, why are people flocking by the millions to come to the United States?   Do you see people by the millions trying to get into Cuba, or Russia?  Are people sneaking into Cuba or Venezuela for a better life?

The quote is dead wrong.

It isn't, actually.

Did China get ahead over the last few decades because they embraced unions, or because they embraced the free enterprise system within their authoritarian regime?

Everyone wants it easy.

Ensuring that there is a free market is one of the roles of government, so if there is evidence of a lack of free competition then it’s for the referee to address. Forcing workers to pay dues to a union doesn’t aid that free competition one bit though.

The free enterprise system with market prices takes that mantle easily.

Nonsense! Forcing employees to pay dues to a union is not a “right”, that would be coercion. It was rejected.

The employees voted against the union option resoundingly... respect their vote please, not try to impose upon them your own judgements

that’s the reality - workers are best protected by.... competition for their labour, other options. Not being forced to pay dues to a union.

A couple who both earn the Amazon wage have a combined yearly income of close to $60,000. That is not poverty and is far above the median income of the area. Median home value in the town is just under $90,000. So yes they could afford a home.

Do Americans own a house on $15/hr? A car? What exactly is the priviledge of these wages?

You seem to miss the point. $15 an hour in any part of the USA is poverty wages. Which is why so many Americans struggle to survive on a week to week basis. The wages paid to the masses in America are a social disgrace.

Well, the vote wasn't even close. More than two to one against joining the union. Seems the workers are happy enough, and 15 bucks an hour in Alabama goes a helluva lot farther than 15 bucks in California or New York.

Amazon's big money worked in both the senate floor and the warehouse floor. Unions are good in locations and with companies that abuses the rights of the workers.

Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor.
