Amazon's might divides opinion at world's biggest book fair

@Mu Staff, I think Powell's is a better model because City Lights caters to a very niche audience of readers who have a very Leftist political views. Powell's--by the sheer size of some of their stores in Portland, Oregon--seems to cater to a very wide audience of book readers.

@Raymond, you couldn't be more correct. Powell's is wonderful — not only to customers, but also to authors and publishers. Two others for the industry to look up to are City Lights Books in San Francisco and Moe's Books in Berkeley.

In the end, the biggest problem for booksellers is that physical bookstores are failing because customers are finding better alternatives or customer service at physical bookstores can be lacking at times. They need to look at how Powell's Books at Portland, Oregon in the USA keeps its strong customer base and figure out how to replicate that around the world.
