Iconic American soft ice cream brand, Mister Softee, best known in New York City and the East Coast for its large fleet of soft-serve ice cream trucks, has entered the Japanese market.
Serving “The Very Best” soft ice cream since 1956, Mister Softee began with two brothers and one ice cream truck, and now it has grown to be one of the largest franchisors of soft ice cream in the United States, with over 600 trucks and 350 franchise dealers operating in 15 states.
Co-branding with luxury Japanese sweets brand, Café Siry, in their new Omotesando flagship store, Mister Softee debuted on Oct 6 in the Gyre Building. Café Siry includes dried fruits, chocolates, and cakes, and a full coffee, juice and champagne bar.
While Mister Softee in America has just two flavors of vanilla and chocolate, Mister Softee Japan has over 30 original soft-serve flavors, with six flavors rotating each week. American Apple Pie, made with apple jam, crushed graham crackers, and cinnamon, Black Sesame, Avocado Maple, and Frosted Flakes (photo below) are just some of the unique blended soft-serve flavors you can find at Mister Softee in Tokyo. Mister Softee’s signature chocolate dip and rainbow sprinkle cones are also on the menu in addition to hard ice cream, milkshakes and sundaes made with fresh fruit.
A second Tokyo location will be opening within the month in the popular Mishuku Crossing area near Sangenjaya.
Mister Softee: In Café Siry, Gyre Omotesando 5-10-1 B1 Jingumae Shibuya-ku Tokyo.

Awesome. Always loved Mr Softee ice creams. It lives up to it's name serving the most soft ice cream I have ever had, and it's unique Banana split which comes in a boat is one of a kind.

Will the ice cream be changed to "suit Jpns taste"? With the facecone, it should fit right in here.

Now if only The Big Gay Ice Cream Store would make the jump across the pond... preferably well away from the hoity-toity riffraff of Aoyama or Omotesando...

Gotta try it. But hope there's no long line there like at Ben & Jerry's in Omotesando, which has kept me from sampling that ice cream.
