I have no interest in ever taking up the option of using this BNPL scheme, as I don't believe in buying luxury goods that you can't afford at that moment in time (if ever)

The only money that I have ever borrowed and intend to ever borrow, is the mortgage loan that my wife and myself took out to purchase our family home.

By not charging interest, the non-US firms can avoid many of the American banking laws. It almost seems like these companies' business model includes expecting a decent percentage of missed payments and gaining the resulting windfalls from the imposed penalties.
