apple has $100,000,000,000 in physical cash on reserves. the most paid executives on the planet and super high stock prices. mean while all their iGadgets are made by virtual slaves in china and brazil.

sunhawk - Absolutely! Apple and other companies like Blackberry are horrible. All those who own iPhones and Blackberrys should hang their head in shame and switch to a rival company who makes their products outside of China and Brazil. (Little help on which companies do this?)

sure because all of your food, energy, clothes - everything you purchase and consume is made by wonderfully happy people who want for nothing and have permanent smiles........NOT, get real.

apple is just a really good example of abusive foreign labor practices. they make huge profits while their foxconn workers kill them selves from despair and barely make enough money to live on. apple could make their products in the states still turn a health profit. yet they choose not to.

when i get my next android phone, i'm going to find one that has the least amount of made in china. probably end up with a samsung.

sunhawk - just googled "foxconn" and man, am I relieved! Turns out despite a few gripes that could be verified, the negative press it recieved a few months back were mostly proven to be false and manufactured. Turns out mainland Chinese employees of foxconn are actually disgruntled that they will be asked to work fewer hours as a result of false rumors! Turns out to be a better place to work than most other options open to Chinese and employees actually have a lower suicide rate compared to the national average.

Phew! Now I can continue to enjoy my kick-butt iPhone with the knowledge that I'm also helping Chinese families get ahead in life.

Free market policies and manufacturing jobs helped China escape extreme poverty (please remember than 40 years ago, there were many people starving in the country). Now China is trying to develop domestic consumption and shift the focus from manufacturing jobs to high value economy (knowledge economy, etc.). If it wasn't from these factories, people would still be starving. Working standards are increasing in line with income and living standards. There is still a lot of improvement to expect of course, but those who pretend we should boycott products made in China are hypocrites.

Meanwhile, Steve Job's annual salary was $1 with no bonus.

And stock returns don't work for Apple since, under Jobs, Apple didn't pay dividends to its own stockholders, and he almost never sells it.

well did he sell them, or "almost never" sell them? Better alert Walter Isaacson Job's biographer who reported Jobs selling them.
