An ironic result of Trump's ineptitude is the resurgence of the power of states - something Republicans have long desired for the purpose of suppressing minorities but had never imagined could be used in such ways as environmental protection, economic activities - and, yes, upholding the rights of minorities.

Like Toyota it’s best for companies to manufacture and sell in the foreign market. This strategy avoids the tariff issue altogether while providing the benefit of local employment. Countries whose development strategy is overly reliant on exports like China and Germany are asking for pushback.
Actually states rights have traditionally been a Democrat thing - that’s how the party justified slavery and Jim Crow. Republicans believe in Federalism because they have always believed that local government officials understand the needs of their people better than politicians further removed from local concerns. Good to see Dems finally catching on to this way of thinking. Just need to get them to properly understand that the separation of powers doesn’t mean they have the right to assume all powers as their own.

Really? But I thought Abe was a great friend of Trump's. Surely a friend wouldn't be treated badly.

Every Abe's visits to Trump had offered to financially supports for this/that the USA industry. And, what is the result? Tariffs are still there, and now this news. Trump is a "best friend" to Abe, and Abe is a "best puppet" to his casino.

It is not just states and companies reaching out to each other. My firm and the firms of sevaral friends are reaching out to the US clients (and visa versa) about how to keep Trump from tearing their business apart. Trump has been really bad news all around. But his base loves it. Wait until the effects of Trumps incompetence work their way down to their level and they are all homeless.

With trade wars, markets go down
Watch the Dow Jones, Nasdaq, S&P, etc. go bear market
That doesn't help if the US wants to export
For instance, instead of exporting cars to China, Ford and GM would just move plants and factory jobs to manufacture cars inside China
