My fear is that in a panic under intense public pressure to "do something" politicians will lean all over policymakers and in the process over compensate and create a bigger mess further down the road. This inflation is a temporary situation driven by supply chain disruption driven shortages. It is not a situation like Venezuela, Lebanon or Turkey is facing. It is temporary, not a long term situation. In two years we will be back to very low inflation just as we were before Covid-19 turned the world's economies upside down. The conditions that were driving deflationary pressures on the global economy have not gone away.
