“Hopes for an unambiguous ‘Santa rally’ have been tragically hijacked,” said Mizuho Bank in a report.

Yes because slightly less obscene wealth from capital gains as billions suffer in misery from a pandemic is a Christmas tragedy. Someone should rewrite Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Some regular Scrooges there at Mizuho.

Why do you suppose President Trump did not bring up giving $2000 per individual and $4000 per family when it could have made a difference during the campaign? Nor did he bring this up when the House and Senate were negotiating.

And, as I write, President Trump has vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act. Perhaps because Twitter and Facebook, etc. made him look bad?

The greatest something, I suppose.

Google it man..

When he gave $1200, then Demos said it is a political stunt.

Before election he proposed the relief package but Nancy team delayed it purposefully. For election advantage.

He did not use the package for his election benefit. when it was in the house and Senate.

As a president he can make voice when it comes to his table.

That is what he is doing now.

Trump is probably right there probably is waste in the bill and the money could be targeted properly.

Still, I guess he just doesn’t want to sign off in even more debt under his own watch, better let Biden get the blame for it right?

Japan made the same type of mistake when the LDP did as Komeito demanded and switched from 300,000 yen payments to the needy, to 100,000 yen payments for every breathing person under the sun, including those (like me) who don’t need the money. GoTo subsidies, masks, were other obvious wastes of money in exchange for debt.

The President's staff could have made it clear to Senate and House Republicans that he wanted $2000 / $4000 going to individuals / families. Why didn't he do that when it would have a difference in negotiations. As it is, it looks like the Democrats in the House and the Senate have the President's ear! (Note: "Looks like" means "appears to be" not "is".)

Perhaps, not a helpful tactic during the the two Georgia Senate Republican campaigns.
