Any significant raise in interest rates will slam the brakes on even the anemic growth that exists in Europle and North America now. Japan wishes it had anemic growth. A good chance it'll cause a financial crisis in very short order. Modern capitalism has devolved into a mere confidence game.

Keep things as they are, accelerating inflation and more financial bubbles assured. Hyper inflation a distinct possibility.

We are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Capitalism is so obsolete it's continued existence is a like black comedy.

Capitalism is not obsolete, it just needs people in government who know what they’re doing, like Trump. Inflation was under control until the recent regime change in the US.

I prefer Trump to the zombie we have in office now, but that's wishful thinking. The rates will not be raised. In the off-chance they are, they will quickly be reversed as the economy crashes. Inflation is inevitable. The choices for politicians are to cut back and stall the economy (not politically popular), default (even more unpopular) or inflate their way out of debt (popular at first, because the harmful effects are not obvious until inflation goes full swing and people are happy to receive checks). Historically, countries have always chosen this third option when it was available.

This has been many decades in the making, and is the fault of both parties and the people themselves. There is no painless way out. But you can be sure the wealthy will become wealthier in the process.

One can argue that what we been seeing is not capitalism at all. Crony capitalism is just another form of state redistribution of capital - but the money goes to the rich rather than to the poor.

You honestly believe this kind of flagrant but legalized corruption isn't an inherent part of the capitalist system which cannot but become more and more overt the more the real economy rots?
