Um, you were the one that said it was only going to cost $60-$80. The only way that's not a fallacy is if there is a word that means fallacy times millions.
garypen
Seriously? That's your first go-to? Yikes.
There's only one fallacy in this debate. And, it ain't mine.

Yeah, right. Henry Ford, the greatest industrialist of all time, paid his workers double the going rate. He said a carmaker needs to pay his workers well, because they are eventually its car-buying customers, and customers of all types of consumer goods. Ford's highly influential policies help grow the US middle class in the early to mid 20th century , turning America into the world's most prosperous society.
The idea that high workers' wages destroys industries isn't just wrong -- it's beyond wrong.

Unions in Japan may as well be working for the companies they are meant to be holding to account! Toothless tigers the lot of them !

It won't be $60-$80 (it will be in yen first of all). It will be that number times the number of employees - and that number can suddenly get extremely large.
I'm not saying it's enough to break the industry, but I'm pointing out the fallacy of your logic.
garypen
You think a $60-$80 per month raise is going to bring down Japan's largest industry, do you?
garypen
You're being sarcastic right? Either that, or you're in management at a Japanese auto company. Otherwise, I can't imagine anyone with any compassion towards their fellow man writing such cold-hearted, mean-spirited, anti-working class, pro-corporate screed.

@Cricky OUT WITH THE OLD WAY! IN WITH A NEW WAY OF DOING BUSINESS!!
Why do these SO CALLED greedy workers want more? Perhaps these workers don't want to continue to living in a bubble and feeling like robots to move out of company housing and grow up and live as they see fit and perhaps earn more money get a bank loan and buy their own home insteady of living in shoddy company housing. They don't want a bus to to take them to and from work to company housing they want freedom. Every company I know has a cafeteria why not be able to go out to your the local community pub and eat lunch with a coworker. You say its "easy street". I call it A TOTALLY CONTROLLED WORK ENVIRONMENT from the moment these employees get up to go to work and back homes. I see nothing wrong with the company supplying work uniforms because they are doing a job. LMFAO you wrote "And these people want more" YES THEY WANT MORE if anything they want FREEDOM! I can't believe you wrote "unbelievable. It’s not like they have a brain" wow I won't question who has one after reading your post!
Why do these greedy workers want more? They have company housing so no need for a bank loan. A bus to to take them to work and back to the company housing. A community eating hall. Really it’s easy street. Company even supplies clothing. And these people want more?
unbelievable. It’s not like they have a brain?

Never thought about it, but yes, the automotive industry would have a big impact on worker's compensation just like Ford did back in the day. Hope this leads us all in the right direction.

They are asking for next to nothing ! Damn

It's just crumbs isn't it. Sad that that is even considered a pay rise. I think anything less than 5% is an insult.

Imagine a strike in Japan if the car companies do not agree. Lol, it is not happening.
