Japan is smart. If Japan doesn't help Bangladesh China will. The price of that metro line is a very small price to keep Bangladesh out of the Chinese orbit, or a Chinese debt trap. When you look at a map and consider how much Japanese shipping, both inbound and outbound to Europe, is passing by Bangladesh every day being on good terms with Bangladesh could become critically important under some circumstances.
