Burger King to open 1st Kansai store in Osaka in July

Burger King Japan, announced will open its first Kansai store in an underground shopping mall in Namba City in Osaka in late July. The area is one of Osaka’s most popular shopping districts with a number of inexpensive stores and restaurants.

Since its return to the Japanese market in 2007, Burger King has opened over 30 stores across the Kanto region, but this will be the chain’s first in the Kansai area. Burger King said it hopes to attract Kansai customers too, with its large-sized grilled beef patties and "Have it Your Way" style, which allows customers to choose their own toppings and sizes.

Damn, why Namba? Umeda seems a much better location. Especially with the new JR station, enough place to put a BK.

That makes another major place in Japan to teach people not to cook healthy food at home and to increase the obesity percentage in Japan. Anyone hungry for the Nippon special? One pizza with a burger, fries and spaghetti smeared over the surface, gravy, and sprinkled with a double chocolate, crushed donut. Oh, well, life is short, enjoy!

It took 4 years to get to Kansai? All right only about 10 more years until it hits Kyushu! I can't wait.

Cool now our brothers in Osaka can walk around with big fat asses after eating way too many burgers, fries, etc...at Burger King and you can get Beer Heineken? There too right?

YAY!! Every time I went to Tokyo, the first place I went to fill up after the long bus ride was BK. It tastes better than McDonald's, possibly cuz I miss that true barbecued meat smell.

And for all the haters out there, if you don't like it just don't patronize them. Everybody makes a choice of what they put into their own bodies and how much they exercise.

Anyways, Japanese food isn't all that healthy either, mayo on everything anybody? How about pork fat and loads of salt in ramen? A bowl of empty calorie rice?

I like the whopper junior with cheese maybe once a year.

I recommend the Whopper, heavy on the pickles, onions & lettuce ( no extra charge last time I went ). But have it your way.

Nice... About 4pm the day after a big night out.

Good news comes with such a move. More cardiacs. Less health care demands in 2040. In the USA the government spends money to discourage smoking but pays subsidies to tobacco farmers to keep the crop coming. Let free enterprise provide what he people want, and don't infringe on that right.

I do not frequent McD and it is more than 10 years since I went to BK but I can always remember enjoying the onion rings. BK was always better the McD in the UK but will probably be very similar to McD in Japan.

Japanese food is already unhealthy so this will not much difference to peoples diets. Anyway some people could do with a bit of filling out.

Did someone say gravy?!? I want gravy! I wish KFC would do it over here.

BK is far superior of McD's.

@bsosaka: completely agree. everyone keeps talking about obesity but no one notices the severly underweight population here. anyway, i love BK and i wish they would come to shizuoka. But nothing comes to shizuoka except gundam lol

I couldn't have said it better. As to why people think that in every single way Japanese food is superior always gets me. There is a lot and I mean, a lot of unhealthy foods out there and the list is long too. The main thing is PORTIONS, you think eating rice 3X a day is healthy??? If you think eating fried squid, ramen, Tonkatsu, Okinamiyaki, entrails etc. won't make you fat or is cholesterol free is living in Never Neverland. Moderation is the key with eating ANY kind of food. BK IS without a doubt far superior than Miki Dee's just on the taste of the beef patties alone! Also, I agree that some people could benefit from taking in a few calories to a society that is truly underweight, thinking they ARE overweight.

@Osakadaz

I'm with you on that, if you really and I mean really want the best in a burger at least in Japan, Sasebo is the way to go! I do love BK, but seriously... hands down, neither Miki Dee's nor BK can hold a candle to Sasebo, the best in Japan!

Excellent news. I suspect they will open a bunch of restaurants in the Kansai area over the next few years.
