I happened to go to a Uniqlo store yesterday and saw their new line of funny T-shirts and Laura Ashley collaboration items. I didn't buy anything because the quality was not as it used to be. The design is simple, manufacturing is OK but the fabric is very cheap and wearily. I have a T-shirt from years ago and it's still fine and wearable, but the ones I saw yesterday wouldn't stand a chance even if it's only put once or twice in the washing machine.
Did they invest too much in the Ginza building?

Hope they dont get in trouble for that statement

Their quality has improved but I wouldn't call Uniqlo chic. The Bubble Era is gone forever but we should still be thankful, people. Over 2 billion people live on an amount equal to less than one dollar a day. Japan is wealthy.

"deflationary Japan"
Yeah? How come my rent has gone up then? And cripes, cabbages were 700 yen last time I looked!

I like my purple micro-fleece ¥1980 shirt I scored at Uniscrewu....comfy and a better value than what little else that buys you.

I certainly wouldn't call Uniqlo chic, either. Nothing from there lasts very long. I refuse to buy their socks as they tear after just a few wearings. The t shirts fade and seem to stain easily. Their garments don't last long. And you can get warmer long johns and sturdier socks for less at any Workman shop. Uniqlo needs to offer fresh looking merchandise and most of it is not new enough nor of sufficient quality. Uniqlo って終わっている!
