A lot of western businesses are moving out of China due to COVID and their support for Russia.

This is only the beginning..

Beijing had set itself a growth target of around 5.5 percent for 2022 but this was undermined by the government's "zero-COVID" policy, which put the brakes on manufacturing activity and consumption.

The worst thing is that this is was completely unnecessary, if the government followed the recommendations from the international experts from the beginning the cycles of outbreaks and lockdowns (and the disaster produced when they could not be sustained any longer as predicted) could have been prevented.

This could have been avoided. But a police state was preferred over dealing with the inevitable. Some few individuals probably economically benefited from the three years of restrictions, not the average Chinese person, though, just 600,000 hospitalisations all at once for starters

I'm just glad the (nowhere lol) protests were seismic enough to change the governments mind.

Down side of thus predictable change of affairs is no golden nuggets of truth from the fanboys. Oh well. Good things never last.

I really hope the Chinese economy collapses spectacularly, as this would serve as the only justice the world's likely to receive for their greatest gift to the world, their Chinavirus.

Their totalitarian attitude to concealing the real facts, their deceit and disrespect to the rest of the world's population, added to which their constant threats and harassment of their neighbours, their repressive stifling of democracy, really add up to the fact that they are nowhere near being considered as a normal civilised country.

I've been avoiding anything 'Made in China' for years now, as this is the only way to ensure their demise. My health has suffered due to their despicable and wilful release of their virus, and my requests for apologies are met with a wall of silence. In short, China is a disgrace.

Sounds very noble but exhausting. Did you post this via papyrus or stone tablet?

You should take glee from the fact that 60,000 of 'them' have died from it in the last few weeks.

In short, China is a disgrace.

All of it?

I won't criticize the the CCP for honestly reporting facts, assuming this is true. It is what it is. The last few years have been hard for everyone. China isn't any different.

If they were simply honest about nearly all these economic numbers, the amount of graft by CCP middlemen taking their cut would be clearer and Xi's anti-corruption task force would have an easier time finding that 80%+ of his peers are stealing from the entire country.

Facts help find corruption.

I do the same, buy nothing from China. My laptop is made by Velocity Micro in Virginia. The only parts from China inside are the plastic case and the screen. I was careful specifying it and everything that touches data comes from the US, Taiwan in the case of my 2TB memory the manufacturer could make it in either in the US or South Korea. It runs on Linux Mint with the Cinnamon GUI. Eff Macroshaft and Crabapple.

Our microwave and all of our other kitchen appliances are made in the US (Whirlpool and Amana for the microwave). The rice cooker is the exception, from Zojirushi made in Japan. The vacuums are made in Bristol Virginia (Aerus LLC), Cleveland OH (Kirby) or Japan (we have a couple of 100 volt Japanese market Panasonics that are simply outstanding). My shoes are made in the US (Danner, Matterhorn, New Balance), Dominican Republic (boat shoes) or Vietnam. The cars are American, Spanish (Ford Transit Connect) or German. Motorcycles are US or German. My carbon fiber full face helmet is from South Korea. Even building our house I made sure the builders used only US sourced components.

I read labels and pay attention. Even when shopping for something like a nozzle for our garden hoses I'll give the Chinese products a pass and buy the one from Taiwan.

The Covid-19 death toll the Chinese are reporting are only those deaths that occur in hospitals. If you die of Covid-19 outside of a hospital the death is not recorded. So yes China is systematically undercounting Covid-19 deaths.

In spite of their measures, not thanks to them.
