Well I know that obviously the Chinese government is quite draconian, but in this case, it’s not entirely bad. It seems to have given them the power to really implement measures at stopping the spread this virus, that they would not otherwise be able to do.
I mean like I said, there’s draconian, and I hated how they responded to the Hong Kong protests by the way. But it’s like they say, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Strangerland
Implementing control over the people is much easier in a dictatorship than it is in a free society. Dictatorships say "everyone stay home or else" and everyone stays home. In free societies, the people have rights, and it's not as easy for the government to lock things down.
I wouldn't say that makes the Chinese system 'right'. I think it's just that the system in place there is better fostered to dealing with a situation like a virus that requires lockdown to stop its propagation.
