Pot meet kettle.

Since when China cares about safety of products?

When will China improve the safety for products, people and environment?

26 ( +30 / -4 )

China has a strong history of forced labor. However, everything will work itself out one day, and the truth will come out.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

Hypocridiots.

12 ( +17 / -5 )

This is nothing about safety... just more of China's wolf warrior diplomacy.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

Ok. Don’t buy them then. Anything else?

19 ( +19 / -0 )

Of course brands like Nike, Zara, H&M and Adidas are rubbish.

They are made in China.

25 ( +27 / -2 )

So China deems that western products, which are mostly made in China, unsafe? Lol.

25 ( +25 / -0 )

Uhm, (soft voice) there made in china…

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Hmm . . . Is this the same China that had poison in their baby milk products back in 2008, but withheld the info until the olympics of that year were over? Yes China, please continue to lecture us on safety . . . Your opinion is of such value.

China has big problems, but is wasting time to control people rather than setting and enforcing safety and labor laws. Priorities.

What's different about a training facility and forced brainwashing? People are free to opt-out of a training facility without any repercussions.

Someone had too much melamine milk with their lime-preserved eggs processed with copper sulphate this morning in Beijing.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Everything is made in China due to its cheapness.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

That’s fine if China does that because I also like to avoid buying anything made in China, whenever possible.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Someone should mention to these Chinese officials that their shrimp farmers raise their shrimp in tanks beneath chicken cages and farm grow tilapia is raised in tanks under pig pens. Guess what the shrimp and tilapia use for feed. Don't buy seafood sourced from China.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Then you Bozos shouldn't buy American products......bakatare!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

They do have point.

Capitalism is about exploitation and oppression. War and bullying. Thankfully China hasn’t fully committed to the western colonial philosophy, but it seems to be heading that way. Sad, they were our only hope...

@desert.

Anybody for hormone, antibiotic fed GM beef grown in cut down Amazon ex-forests?

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Blackmail, plain and simple. China usually makes most of that stuff and has a poor track record of dangerous products.

Some country is mad because no one wants to to forget and continue to mention their human rights violations internatonal security attacks, international fraud, and pandemic creations!

It is time to outright boycott China! Let them feel a little of the NK treatment then let their own citizens deal with the CCP.

Capitalism is about exploitation and oppression.

I would argue that in real life communist nations are far more guilty of exploiting and oppressing their people than the west. The Red Guard took everything and ran our family out of the family home to live in misery in the sticks. Why? Momma was a teacher and Mao hated anyone with an education. Our family knows what you say is a lie. A CCP cadre still lives in our home in Shanghai presumably with all of our possessions. Nope, no exploitation or oppression there.

Product safety is especially sensitive in China following scandals over tainted, shoddy or counterfeit milk, medicines and other products that have killed and injured consumers.

Which is interesting because it is usually shoddy Chinese products or local counterfeits of Western brands causing the problems. Chinese consumers are more than willing to pay more for the percieved safety and quality of foreign brands because they can't trust those produced domestically.

Really this is just another CCP beat up to try and get people to support 'local', and to stop sending money offshore.

It's unbelievable how much China criticizes things foreign, blocks foreign companies (Google, foreign movies etc.), places punitive taxes (Aus wines etc.) and restrictions on foreign products and services, and completely GETS AWAY WITH IT. Their trade balance is so lopsided (roughly 200 billion). Meanwhile they bully smaller nations in Southeast Asia and strip the seas of fish. Time for the world to wake up and put tariffs on made in China.

ban all their products! Show the Chinese just how much they need the west not the other way around

Please enlighten us on how many times you have been to China?

You seem an expert.

Do you have 5/6G in your local Walmart where you buy cheap Chinese made products?

china is not a communist country. Get with it.

China has been flooding world markets with shoddy substandard merchandise contaminated with toxic metals and other hazards for decades.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

These products are neither unsafe nor or of poor quality. The article gave the reason:

Official media publicized criticism of others for expressing concern about possible forced labor.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Confused. Are not these products made in china in the first place?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Does anyone in the West just think that China will sit back and take it, they are very wrong.

People should just put their money where their mouth is and not buy Chinese made stuff, but hey they won't do that because it will cost them.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

We are all wasting our time here. It is simple. Don’t believe anything China says, don’t buy anything made in China and ignore them when possible, fight them when we must.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Nothing good comes from China.

Now it looks like COVID came from a lab in August 2019 and of course they covered it up for months.

This apparently coms from a defector to the U.S.

The Chinese government has accused H&M, Nike, Zara and other brands of importing unsafe or poor quality children's clothes and other goods,

Oh dear, I can remember verious consumer programs here in the Uk some years ago, 1970's 1980's and in 2000, demonstrating how poorly built and sometime dam right dangerious toys that were imported by large retailers in the UK, guess where they originated from??

Much of my family still lives in Shanghai but that was not always the case. The whole family was run out by the Red Guards and everything was taken. A party cadre still lives in the family home. Momma lost fingers in a factory accident and was never compensated. My wife had two forced abortions there, neither using any kind of sedation and when she complained about the pain the "doctor" just berated her. We used visit often but not so much now. It is getting to dangerous. We worry the Chinese will refuse to allow us to exit. They have been doing that with increasing frequency to Chinese with connections to the west. The neighbors still call Momma "Teacher" even though it has been some 50 years since she last taught. My wife just says "Mao took everything". China looks nice on the surface but underneath it is filled with corruption and thievery. Everything requires a "red envelope" (do you know what those are?). It used to be to start a business there you only had to pay off the party thugs once and you were good to go. But now? They come back every quarter for a red envelope and if you don't pay, all kinds of public safety inspectors, tax inspectors, etc. show up. The CCP is nothing more than a criminal protection racket except they have a police state behind them. Mao and the CCP absolutely destroyed all that was good in China. The morality of the people is gone. The only things left now are the raw accumulation of wealth and power. The Taiwanese are much nicer people. They are like the Chinese before Mao destroyed everything that was good.

Yes, especially they are entitled to complain….ROFL
