Jeesh, and the country only changed its approach after those November 2022 protests. Imagine if the zero dogma had continued. .!.
Makes anyone with a bit of moral fibre wonder what was the purpose of the painful zero-covid.
Not to protect the economy it would seem anyway.

Zero Covid policy cannot go on forever. China’s approach was correct, that is trying to save lives as many as possible. Had China not have the Zero Covid policy, millions of lives would have been lost. Later Covid sub-variants are so much milder, their immune systems can fight off the virus so that now they will able to boost the economy. Unlike in the West, giving away money to boost the economies, and now people there will have to pay for it from skyrocketing inflation, lower productivity, and now another banking crisis.

I totally agree with you.
The delta variant is much more deadly than the latter variant if China gave up the zero covid policy early millions of people would have died. It is true that many people do not like zero covid and the economy has also been affected. But in fact, China's inflation is very low, and the growth of GDP in the last three years is higher than that of most countries in the world.

News? Of course it is expected to rise! If it didn't rise, then that's newsworthy! Duh!
