Trump: Trade wars are easy.  So is shooting yourself in the foot.  Ford, an iconic US brand won't bow to Trump.  Harley Davidson moving offshore.  Consumer prices in US rising.

The thing that gets me is Trump does not understand the basics.  The US is a rich country so buys lots of goods from other countries.  That is in a nutshell why there is a trade deficit.  Many of these other countries cannot afford US goods or do not want them as they are cheaper in their own countries.

To take Trump's logic further, I have a trade deficit with my local petrol station, supermarket and bar.  I buy goods of them but they buy nothing off me.  If I try to sell them my home made pate but they don't want to buy it what do I do?  I slap a 25% tariff on their goods which means I am 25% out of pocket to buy the same goods.

A logical and simple illustration of how America's trade deficits occurred in the first place and why they will remain.

But Trump and his addle-brained acolytes will still not understand it.

This tit-for-tat Trump & China trade war is rather amusing. I'd like to see who in the end will be having the most pain :D
