What? No comment from a TPP spokesperson? Ohhhh that's right. It's secret.

It is well known that american cars don't sell in japan because they produce unattractive and unreliable garbage. Oh and the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
It's astonishing to see how little detroit seems to understand this, always blaming some mysterious 'trade blocks' instead of accepting the fact that they do not produce vehicles that people want. Hence two out of the three went out (and should have stay out) of business.
Buffoons.

Non tarrif barriers like what ? Doesn't seem to affect the sale of European cars. I have noticed an increase of new European cars on the road this year. Benz, Audi, VW, Peugot, BMW, Mini etc.
There must be some Japanese law against the import of US cars that we don't know about.

I agree American cars are are junk and executives get 20 million in bonus kicks However Mazda America is Junk also!

Build cars that even Californians or Europeans want to drive.

I'm sorry but the unreliable part just isn't true anymore and hasn't been for some time.

Up until recently, American cars haven't gotten good mileage, in fact they've been notoriously bad. With gas prices in Japan being what they are, it's hard to blame people for not wanting to buy them.
But now that they do have better mileage cars, are they even trying to promote these cars in Japan? I have never seen any effort to do this.
Basically, the people who do buy American cars over here buy stereotypically "American" cars: Cadillacs,Suvs, Mustangs and Hummers-now actually made in China. But with no effort by US manufacturers to counter this stereotype why blame the Japanese?
Detroit's problem is one that is entirely made in America.

US automakers could not sell cars when the yen was at 76 to the dollar, where they had a huge price advantage. Nobody wants junk! Even Americans. They don't even try. How about advertising? Showing even a bit of even fake interest in the Japanese market? They won't be happy until Japan passes a law that says every Japanese has to own an American car (or maybe they'll pass a law in the US that says that).

Yeah, American cars are the best. That's why they can't stay in business without government hand-outs. /s

The image of American cars is at the point where Japanese cars were in the 80s. Mostly legacy opinions that took a while to change.
Their sales numbers in Japan are still paltry compared to everywhere else in the world. I guess it's because all of those car companies suck, too.

Superlib, dream on. Most "American" cars use Japanese parts or are manufactured in third-world countries.
