The earrings, named after Greek gods, had respectively been valued at between $38-million and $50-million and $12.5-million and $18-million.

so the sale price was below top estimates?  ridiculous what people will pay for these but reflection of the way in which currencies continue to be devalued.

Basically the price is based on the De Beers logo that is etched into the diamonds since now a days we can create man made diamonds of the same size.

It is indicative of the immense gulf between rich and poor when sales like these occur....
