Doshisha Business School has officially begun its MBA Program in Global Business and Management Studies. Welcoming students from over 20 countries, this new program, at one of Japan's oldest and top ranking universities, was established to prepare future business leaders to respond to an increasingly dynamic global economy and to the needs of ever more diverse groups of people participating in it.
To commemorate the launch of this new program, Doshisha Business School faculty invited Marc Lesser, CEO of Google-developed Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, renowned executive coach, and zen monk to give a public lecture on the challenges facing business leaders. Lesser described how mindfulness training can unleash both the logic and creativity that managers and entrepreneurs need to create sustainable businesses that deliver true value to communities.
Global MBA Program Director Mari Kondo said, "Mr Lesser's lecture highlighted the leadership qualities needed to catalyse change in societies around the world. Our new Global Business and Management Studies MBA program aims to cultivate these very skills to allow students to develop into mindful leaders who are capable of this complex and dynamic task."
President of Doshisha University, Koji Murata, said of the program "With its diverse faculty and student body, Global Business and Management Studies is not just global in name but in nature, and in training leaders to create a sustainable future is also fulfilling Doshisha University's founding principle of 'conscience education'."
Building on Doshisha Business School's English-only sustainability-focused Global MBA program established in 2009, this new program guides students to inquire beyond the established boundaries of set theories and practices to look beyond 'business as usual'. Students not only cover the breadth of standard MBA core subjects, but also gain deeper insights from the program's three focus areas - sustainability and green business, culture and creativity, and business in Asia.
Admissions for the Global Business and Management Studies MBA 2015 intake start December 1, 2014.
