The biggest carmakers in the future will be American, Korean and Chinese, (although the Chinese will be mostly limited to their domestic market.)
The Japanese will fall behind due to their commitment to prop up and protect jobs at their small domestic suppliers who can't afford to retool to electric technologies from combustion engine technology.
