Keep Europe and pull out of China.

This is a good move. Obviously, there's nobody in Nissan that can handle such a huge operation aside from Ghosn.

Typically a Nissan non decision, non strategy. “We will pull out of the European market and focus on Japan, China and the US” but then “ we keep a presence in Europe, rest of Asia Australia...madness. Reduced capacity only saves money when you close plants, when closing shifts, cost per vehicle goes up.

the only way to survive is to close ALL European, including the UK plants and maybe let Renault distributie a few models. The zero tariff rate under the free trade agreement makes that possible.

the ME should be kept with The US, China and Japan markets and full redraw from the others except Europe under Renault limited distribution. Retrench or die. Later if financially healthy again some markets can be tried again.

If Nissan does not close all plants outside the 3 core markets, they will not survive 2021

Nissan's U.S. models have an average age of over 5 years. To lower that to 3.5 years, the automaker plans to launch new and significantly redesigned cars, including a next-generation Rogue crossover SUV, the people said. It will also reduce sales to rental and other fleet operators, they said.

You know this is can be taken TOTALLY out of context here and makes it sound like Nissan will make crap cars that only last 3.5 years!

They announced on May 3 that they were planning to re-open their largest European factory in Sunderland, UK! Looks like Nissan have moved on from Uchida's 'Ganbarimasu' strategy, his sole idea since taking the job, and are following the Indian accountants' plans. According to their last major press conference, they were relying on a 4th quarter drive this year to get them back to profit, with Gupta personally going to the US to promote Nissan cars, but that looks unlikely now.

Has Nissan not learned a single thing over this virus outbreak? Why would they continue to do business in China with the CCP?

Folks, China is the world's largest automotive market, and Nissan has a massive joint-venture with Dongfeng Motor. They probably couldn't pull out of the country, even if they wanted to.

Nissan should NOT be doing any business with Communist China. Especially in light of what we are finding out about the origins of Covid 19 and the astounding negligence of the Communist Chinese government. The future of Nissan will be bleak if they pursue more trade with Communist China.

I would laugh so much if Nissan ends up dropping the charges against Ghosn, and re-hiring him out of despair.

Carlos Ghosn is right. Nissan will go bankrupt in the next two or three years. Saikawa knows that crap is going down, so he left early. I don't think Saikawa is truly the mastermind here. It is the J-government who feared the France to control the Japanese auto industry. Renault already owned the majority in Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors. The only domestic J-auto company is truly Toyota.

All this talk about business strategies, shifting markets, and percentages...

I think Nissan, you also need an awesome thing to sell (vehicle) to get back on track.

So little talk about the actual car. One or two successful cars could be their lifeline. Kinda directionless?
