I'm currently waiting to be fined after the government (houmukyoku) disbanded my company as inactive. My sin was to not formally reappoint myself as a director within 10 years. Apparently filing full accounts and paying taxes, including all of the company ones, during those 10 years is not proof that your company is active. You have to file a piece of paper with another part of the government to get that. We were given one notice, but only after the 10 years were up and the fine was already due.

OMG!! Kohakuebisu, man I hope you come out ok of this one, truly idiotic on the govt tax offices part!! Instead of being hopeful they PREY on you, see my story below from the past!

Is it really that a difficult to apply? I applied for my business subsidy yesterday and it was extremely easy to do it online, no consultant and will be getting way more than the 80,000円 the hotel guy is getting. Admittedly, I'm a kojin jigyo, maybe the process is different for a Kabushiki Gaisha like the hotel. Also already got the 100,000 everyone's getting, so far the JP government hasn't let me down.

El Rata,

Well good for you, seriously! I worked for myself for 20yrs, no longer, now in a small group of 12 people in a KK, I am the only foreigner. If you have never been AUDITED before, if you get the notice, THAT means you are being TARGETED for accounting issues, so re-assessment, fines, interest(at HIGH rates!) & penalties & a LOT of gomenesai's!!  If this happens to you, IMMEDIATELY contact your accountant & go over your last 5 years of filings, even if they look good find something ""wrong"" & re-submit, pay a few million yen for your ""miscalculations""...…...and MAYBE you can head them off at the pass otherwise you are likely looking at a real nasty experience that will be costly(+Y5million), they will embarrass & harass you, it is not pleasant at all.

Best of luck, seriously, we all need it but seldom get it!!

We got the useless masks and posted the form which will be paid before the end of this month. Can't complain about free money.

Maybe local cities are to blame for the delays and red tape.

.… aahhhh  Amakudari & brutal inefficiency at work.....TIJ!!

The fact so many would need consultants shows this is seriously messed up

"Businesses say they cannot receive the much-needed funds because they need to hire licensed social insurance labor consultants to fill in the plethora of paperwork required, and that could cost more than the amount they receive." You have to ask whether this wasn't part of the plan from the outset. The Japanese government are past masters at bait-and-switch and appearing to do something while doing nothing, then telling people that it was all their mistunderstanding.

Good old Japan. This is why I didn't bother applying, especially since we JUST (and yes, it did eventually come) get the application for the 100,000 yen in time for residence tax and health insurance -- which there were no delays on at all. Hell, they couldn't even deliver Abe's dust cloths on time.

No surprise at all, not limited to the government, the private sector is also guilty of red tape and cumbersome application process. Applied for a company bank account with one of the popular net banks, sent all the paperwork and 4 weeks later all the paperwork was sent back for me to provide additional docs, just unbelievable slow. Same with obtaining a phone or sim card for a company.

Please, please, please, get rid of the Abe government. I'm sick of corruption!

Companies initially had to submit more than 10 different documents as well as employee attendance records and wait at least two months to access the financial aid.

The labor ministry has since reduced the number of documents to be filed, so the process takes two weeks, but service industries, which hire many part-time workers, are excluded from the simplified process and are compelled to ask licensed consultants for their support."

Makes total sense....service industries are the ones hit hardest during the shutdown , so lets make it as hard as possoble for them to apply. Yep.

I've always heard that in Japan, the most profitable job you can have is being someone that understands the rules about something. Because more often than not, making a mistake on something can be very costly or time consuming. So you need a specialist to make sure it's done right the first time.

Japan or should I say, Abe and the LDP don't understand the meaning of contingency measures. Every year they have disaster preparedness day when they all wear work clothes and learn how to use a fire extinguisher. That should be saved for elementary school children. It's all for show. They want to show that they have implemented an aid package but if you can't work through the paper work, it's your problem. They really don't want you to get into their coffers. Everyone should be watching to see what these clowns' summer bonus will be. It's an outrage and people should be out in the streets over this kind of crap.

Sad. I already got my Trump money from the US and didn't have to do anything as it was based on my last year's tax filing.

licensed social insurance labor consultants

Shakai roumushi? They get 20% of payments for dozens of employees?! What a racket! Most of it is going to be boilerplate. Last week, the talk in the Diet was of 20% of that vast budget for tourism subsidies going on admin. That's not going to help anyone in the sticks.

If just one hanko is missing from whatever mountain of paperwork needs to be passed around it’s back to square one.

Smells like pretty inaccurate reporting.

A hotel group, which "employs around 80 people", would get a 80,000 yen subsidy..??

So thats 1,000yen each??!!

I truely think not. It may be that the manager hoped to get 80,0000 for himself, which means by not applying for his own moey, then he gets none for his employees as well. Sounds like a great guy to work for....

Slow, slower, slowest .......

And I guess there are other words to use when describing the Japanese Government('s efforts).

In addition to this those "consultants" seem to get a nice, big chunk of that money, too.

Not to forget companies with connections. Unbelievable, I say!

There has been a great disparity in the speed and ease of government aid.

Since most in my fam have businesses, most have got or are in process of receiving 100万 from the government and another 50万 from Osaka Pref for closing during April - May.

I finally applied for one of those last week and the 10万 form came to my house last Friday after my accountant complained of their tardiness via phone on Thursday.

Don't understand what they are talking about. (sarcasm) Dentsu recently received 76 billion from Abe.

Ridiculous!

If you want to make money in this world, apparently you must invest in companies making red tape.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

Ah, Japan! The land of the middle man taking the largest slice of the pie. Employment agencies and real estate agencies are good examples.
